The famous historian of architecture, Aptullah Kuran, is well-known for his administrative and academic work in the fields of architectural history and education in Turkey. He was the vice-principal at Robert College in 1968 and became the founding president of Boğaziçi University in 1971. From 1981 to his retirement in 1994, he served as the chair of the Department of History. The Aptullah Kuran Archive, held in the Boğaziçi University Museum Building, contains written materials such as books, lecture notes, letters, official and personal documents as well as visual materials that include 4602 photographs; 357 sketches and drawings; 353 replica plans, cross-sections, and views; 180 cassettes and 4280 slide films. All of the photographs have been classified and transferred into an Excel file. All photographs, slide films and architectural drawings have been scanned and digitized; however, classification of metadata has not yet been realized.
